A well-presented copy of Harry Graham’s engaging biographical study of remarkable Scottish women, spanning six centuries from Dervorguilla (1213–1290) through the Covenanter Lady Grissel Baillie, to Jane, Duchess of Gordon (1749–1812) and the early 19th-century writer Mrs. Grant of Laggan. The work explores their lives against the backdrop of Scottish political, religious, and social history, giving readers a vivid portrait of these influential figures.
