A rather splendid letter signed by Rudyard Kipling and typed on his own letterhead from his wonderful Jaobean house, Bateman's, in Burwash, Sussex. Dated June 10th, 1903.

The letter is addressed to 'His Majesty's Collector of Customs, Southampton or Liverpool', and reads:

'Dear Sir, I shall be obliged if you will permit an edition of my books called the "Outward Bound" edition, published by Scribner, and belonging to Mr William Bell, to pass through the Custom House.'

In near fine condition. Signature is crisp and strong, and type is clear. Two light vertical creases where letter was originally folded.

A wonderful piece of history from one of Britain's major writers.

Dimensions: Approximately 128mm high x 203mm wide.
