Byron; A Poet Before His Public, Philip W. Martin, 1982

£20.00
SKU LAN8023

Byron; A Poet Before His Public, by Philip W. Martin.

Provenance; from the library of the late William St Clair (1937 - 2021), British historian, academic and author. No signatures, but some very minor pencil inscriptions by William St Clair. Please see our other listings for related works.

Published by Cambridge University Press, 1982, first edition. Also included is a hand written card from Ian Scott-Kilvert (Chairman of The Byron Society), to William St Clair and a copy of a one page review of the book (presumably by William St Clair). The review is scathing. In hardback form, the book is relatively uncommon.

A near fine black cloth hardback with gilt to spine, in a very good dustjacket with some rubbing, and mild wear to extremities. There is a green hue to the image on the spine which is presumably sun fading. Text is clean, bright, and soundly bound. One page has a creased corner - due to production flaw where the corner has not been properly trimmed, so overhangs the other text pages. Illustrated.

x + 253pp.

Text in English.

Weight approximately 446g (unpacked).

Dimensions: Approximately 223mm high x 145mm wide x 20mm deep.
