From the creator of the beloved Moomins, this was her first novel for adults, first published as Bildhuggarens Dotter in 1968, a semi-autobiographical work, exploring the enchantment of childhood in a series of vignettes blending fantasy and reality, through the eyes of the sculptor's daughter.

Sculptor's Daughter, by Tove Jansson. Translated by Kingsley Hart.

Published by Ernest Benn Limited, London. First English edition, 1969.

A very good hardback - ex-library, but still in very good condition. Cloth over boards - speckled orange (salmon pink) front and rear, with spine in brown cloth with gilt lettering. With original unclipped dustjacket in protective library plastic still secured to rear pastedown by tape. Library reference number written on the outer plastic at tail of spine. The jacket is intact with sunning to spine. Original Ernest Benn price sticker to front flap. Soundly bound - no cracking or strain to inner hinges at all.

The text is bright and clean throughout and looks to be unread. Some library indications - book contains 3 'Withdrawn' ink stamps, and signs of library label removal on first blank endpaper. Text block with orange tinted top edge, although colour is faded. One small mark to top right corner of half title. A very nice copy of an uncommon Tove Jansson work.
