A much-loved classic of Anglo-Irish comic fiction, Some Experiences of an Irish R.M. follows Major Sinclair Yeates, an English ex-army officer appointed Resident Magistrate in rural Ireland, as he collides with local customs, eccentric neighbours and chaotic hunting fields. First published in 1899, these stories by E. Oe. Somerville and Martin Ross helped define the Irish comic tradition and later inspired the popular television series The Irish R.M.. This undated Thomas Nelson reprint, probably issued around 1938, presents the complete text in a handy format, in green paper-covered boards with gilt spine lettering and the original dustjacket.
