A good blue cloth hardback with gilt and black printed titles. Front cover carries the ancient north African symbol found on Maugham's books, said to ward off evil. Cover with light wear and just a little give in the spine, but all soundly bound. Cloth has retained its original colour well. Dustjacket has a ring mark and light soiling. With fraying and nibbles to extremities and loss to head of spine. With old tape repairs and residue marks to rear. Jacket housed in clear, removable, plastic protective sleeve
Text is generally bright and clean with some age toning. Blue endpapers. Some light spotting to edge of text block. With dark blue top edge.
