The Works of Lord Byron including his Suppressed Poems. Complete in One Volume.

Published by A. and W. Galignani, Paris, 1827. This particular book caused quite a stir at one point - when a previous owner discovered an apparent letter from Byron inside the book, addressed to his Paris publishers, complaining about other poet's work being wrongly attributed to him. The owner thought they had discovered a previous unknown original piece of correspondence from Byron, unaware that the publisher has actually produced a rather convincing facsimile of the original letter and included it with this edition. The letter has now been bound into the book after the title page, and his confusion is very understandable. There is an original newscutting about the incident which is included with the book.

A very good hardback with leather spine and corners, and marbled paper over boards. Raised bands and gilt title label and decals to spine. The spine and top section of the front cover are a little sunned, but binding is tight and sound. Mild spotting to endpapers. Text is nice and clean. With guarded frontispiece portrait. Still an attractive volume.
