£250.00
SKU LAN8491

Burmese Bronze Lotus Flower Bud Candle holder, 19th Century, Rotating opening mechanism.

This beautiful candle holder has been finely cast from a high quality bronze. Although we have seen a few examples of this type over the years, this one has the nicest quality bronze we have come across. Probably late 19th Century, but may be early 20th.

The candle holder features a lotus bud, which can be opened by turning a threaded brass pillar on the underside. The petals of the lotus gradually open up fully to a most attractive effect. The lotus features 16 petals in total - 8 larger ones on the outside and 8 smaller ones on the inside.

The lotus flower is mounted on a pedestal with a turtle shaped base.

A beautiful item.

Condition is very good overall.

Size: Approx. 13cm high (5 inches). 4.8cm diameter (the lotus bud- when closed). 14cm diameter (when open). The base has a maximum diameter of approximately 7.8cm.

The circular candle receptacle has an outer diameter of 2.9cm and an inner diameter of 2.2cm at the rim tapering to 1.5cm at the base (approx).

Provenance: Private Scottish Collection.
