Han period to Ming period (206BC-1643) and K'ang Hsi period to our days (1662-1911). Wonderful 2 volume set.

1922, scarce English language first editions.

By J J Marquet de Vasselot, Assistant Curator and Mlle M-J Ballot, of the Louvre Museum.

Editions Albert Morance. Covers carry the gilded monogram EAM.

Magnificent 2 volume set; the only one we have ever seen like this. Not only does it bring together 2 very scarce volumes, but they are wonderfully bound into contemporary half leather covers, with gilded spines and marbled paper over board. They are also the scarce English language editions.

Overall condition is near fine. Covers show signs of minor wear with some minor rubbing and shelf wear marks. One cover has small nick to edge of board. Endpapers in both volumes have matching marble design. The uncut text pages are in excellent condition with only minor age discoloration. Likewise for the plates which show only light occasional spotting. Both volumes retain original ribbons.

Both volumes are complete:

Han to Ming: 32pp + 40 plates.

K'ang Hsi to our days: 30pp + 44 plates.

Dimensions (each volume):
252mm high x 203mm wide x 23mm deep.
