Published by Kelly & Walsh, Limited, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Hankow, Yokohama, 1922. Second edition, revised and enlarged.

A fair orange cloth hardback with black and gilt printed design. Cloth is lightly soiled, with bumpoing and wear. Frayed to head and tail of spine and lower edges. A bit of give in the spine. Rear inner joint is split to webbing, and there is also showthrough to webbing after the half title. Pictorial endpapers with previous owner's signature to first free endpaper. Some foxing to first and last few pages and to edge to of text block. List of Maps, Plans and Illustrations page is detached.

Text is clean with scattered foxing. Plates and maps are generally in good shape. 8cm tear to edge of final fold-out map at rear. A far from perfect example of this book, but fascinating content and a significant work on the subject.
