Spherical Astronomy, F. Brunnow, Berlin & London, 1865
Spherical Astronomy by Friedrich Brunnow (1811–1891) was one of the most important mid-19th century textbooks on positional astronomy, providing a rigorous mathematical treatment of celestial coordinates, time-keeping, and orbital motion. First published in German, it became a standard university text, valued for its clarity and precision at a time when observational astronomy was becoming increasingly professionalised. The present volume, printed in Berlin in 1865 but issued with a London imprint, is the first English edition, translated under Brunnow's supervision to widen its readership among British and American astronomers. Copies are uncommon on the market, particularly in the original cloth binding.
