A beautiful Cambodian betel box in zoomorphic form of an elephant with its trunk upwards (always upwards for good luck).

With charming repousse detail. A very attractive box.

Silver plated copper is a traditional and common technique used in Cambodia for items such as this, and this is a very nice example of the craft. The outer surface is of decorated copper, with the interior being silver plated.

Opens up to store contents.

Markings: 90% (although this is a clearly meaningless mark).

Age: Latter half of 20th Century.
