Irene Iddesleigh is the infamous debut novel of Mrs. Amanda McKittrick Ros (Anna Margaret Ross, 1860–1939), celebrated for its extravagantly ornate prose and unintended comedy. First issued in Belfast in 1897 at the author’s expense, it later drew cult admirers, including members of the Inklings, who read it aloud for amusement. This Nonesuch Press edition of 1926 is limited to 1,250 numbered copies and was the first fine-press reissue of the book. It includes three woodcut engravings by W. M. R. Quick.
