This Nonesuch Press edition brings together two of John Bunyan's most enduring works, The Pilgrim's Progress and The Life and Death of Mr. Badman, presenting contrasting moral visions through Bunyan’s plain yet powerful prose. The Pilgrim's Progress traces the allegorical journey of Christian from the City of Destruction toward the Celestial City, a narrative shaped by trial, temptation, and perseverance, and one that has spoken to readers across centuries for its clarity of vision and spiritual intensity.

Set alongside it, Mr. Badman offers a darker, more realistic counterpoint, charting the moral decline of its central figure and serving as a cautionary study of everyday corruption rather than heroic struggle. Issued in 1928 as part of the Nonesuch Press's carefully produced limited editions, this volume reflects the press's commitment to fine printing, thoughtful illustration, and the revival of classic English texts in forms worthy of their lasting significance.
