The Grey Brethren and Other Fragments in Prose and Verse by Michael Fairless is a reflective and quietly evocative work blending prose and poetry, first published in 1900. Writing under her pen name, Fairless draws on medieval themes, spiritual reflection and a deep sensitivity to landscape and tradition, producing a series of impressionistic pieces that explore faith, memory and the passage of time. The work achieved considerable popularity in the early twentieth century, admired for its lyrical style and contemplative tone, and remains her best-known publication.
