Lettres de Vincent Van Gogh à Émile Bernard presents a selection of correspondence from Vincent van Gogh to fellow artist Émile Bernard, offering a personal insight into the thoughts and artistic development of one of the most influential figures in modern art. Published in Paris in 1911 by Ambroise Vollard, an important early supporter of Post-Impressionist artists, the volume combines intimate reflections on art and life with a substantial section of reproductions after Van Gogh’s works. As an early twentieth-century publication connected to both Van Gogh and his circle, it remains a significant document of the period despite condition issues.

Lettres de Vincent Van Gogh A Emile Bernard.

Published by Ambroise Vollard, Paris, 1911 first edition.

Only a fair copy of this scarce work. Printed paperback covers which are almost disbound from the text block. The spine is worn and torn and the covers with soiling and wear. The text pages themselves are good (plus) - generally bright and clean, but only weakly held in place. Still in loose stitched gatherings, but the book needs rebinding (but an achieveable task). Far from perfect, but a scarce item.
