Published by W. and R. Chambers, Edinburgh. Presumed first edition. Undated, but believed to have been published in 1847. The tracts have been bound in to the volume without any title page or contents list, but we have been able to date them from matching to another copy held by University of California library, Santa Barbara (considered as being Vol XIX for tracts 161-168, meaning that this collection can be considered to span volumes XVIII - XX.
A very good hardback, smartly bound with leather spine and corners, and marbled paper over boards. Gilt decoration to spine, with black morocco title label. Light scuffing and bumping. Soundly bound. Illustrated.
Text is clean and bright throughout with light scattered spotting. A handsome volume.
