This work is an epic poem by Luiz Vaz de Camoes and is a celebration of the voyage of Vasco de Gama, and his discovery of a sea route to India. It was first published in 1572 and is regarded as the most important work in Portuguese language literature.

Published by Na Officina Typographica de Firmin Didot, Pariz. Impressor Do Instituto, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Undated, but c. 1870. A scarce publication, not listed in Worldcat.

A good hardback with leather spine and marbled boards. Some scuffing and bumping. Leather is worn and rubbed and front hinge is worn, but all still bound.

Text is clear, with scattered age spotting throughout and occasional scholarly pencil annotation. Previous owner's bookplate to first pastedown.
