Pair of vintage Darjeeling Photographs by J Burlington Smith, Framed
Pair of vintage Darjeeling Photographs by J Burlington Smith, Framed.
Two really attractive Himalayan prints, including Kangchenjunga (the world's third highest mountain). Darjeeling is now in West Bengal, and is famous for the panoramic view of the mountain landscape.
Both prints carry the name J Burlington Smith in white, bottom left and the word Darjeeling on the lower right. There are also the numbers 2005 and 2100 printed - the height in metres from which the photographs were taken.
These are not the original photographs (which would have been smaller), but are printed reproductions on an attractive textured paper, produced at some point during the 20th Century. Very good condition.
J Burlington Smith is a well known photographer working in this area in the early 20th Century.
Each print is surrounded by a lined mount board and framed under glass (apologies for the reflections showing in the photographs due to the glass!). Wooden and gilt frame. With hanging cord on brass loops fitted on the rear.
Price is for the set of 2 prints. A most attractive set.
Visible Photograph Area: 22cm high x 58cm wide.
Framed size: Approximately 41cm high x 77cm wide.
Weight approximately 5.5kg unpacked (the pair).
