An Aberdeen University prize presentation binding with gilt motif to front cover and bound in prize presentation page, dated to 1909.

A good hardback with black leather spine and corners, with raised bands, gilt tooled decoration, and morocco title label with gilt. Marbled edges to text block. The leather is rubbed and worn with small losses in places, including the lower edge of the title label. With cloth over boards, and some crinkling to the cloth on the front. Endpapers intext at inner hinges and small bookbinder's sticker to lower rear pastedown.

Spotting to pastedowns and endpapers. Some spotting to title page. With John Knox portrait frontispiece with tissue guard. Text is otherwise very good - bright and clean throughout, with only the occasional marginal spot.
