The works of Raffaelle, Domenichino, Poussin, and Albano, consisting of four hundred and forty-five engravings, from pictures painted by those great masters principally for the illustration of the Holy Scriptures, preceded by the lives of the artists, and by concise notices of their productions. Together with references to the various passages of Scripture they are intended to illustrate. These are Volumes III, IV, and V of the series comprising;

Vol. III: Domenichino.

Vol IV: Poussin, and Albano.

Vol V: Containing a series of engravings after the above masters, forming a collection of splendid illustrations of the calendar.

(Vols I and II, both of Rafaelle, are not present).

A good group of 3 volumes from this very scarce set. Large format - folio size.

Each volume with original green leather spine and corners with marbled boards. Raised bands and elaborate gilt decoration to spine with burgundy and gilt title labels. A good set overall. Covers are shelf rubbed and bumped with frayed extremities and scuff marks to leather. Marbled endpapers and marbled edges to text block. Some splitting to endpapers at inner joint, but all still bound. 

Text is very good - minor age discoloration, with the good quality stock used for the plates remaining bright, with some age spotting.

Text is duplicated in both English and French.

Dimensions: Each volume approximately 390mm x 265mm x 25-31mm.
