A good full leather hardback in original contemporary binding with elaborate tooled decoration with gilt. The central area depicts a faded coat of arms in roundel. The gilding is worn and faded. With bumping and shelf wear. The spine is more heavily worn with open cracking to front hinge and with losses to head and small hole in leather near tail. Binding a little fragile, but all still bound. Inner joints with some showthrough, and the binding cords are clearly visible. The text block itself retaining its integrity. Marbled pastedowns.

Owner's signature to first free endpaper and ink stamp to margin of title page. The text itself is clean and bright with occasional marginal stating or age spotting. The tables and maps are also in good shape, with some toning commensurate with age, and light staining. Edges of text block are gilt - of special note is some unusual and subtle embossed decoration to the edges of the gilding.
