The Instructor; or, Young Man's Companion, George Fisher, 1799

A very nice example of this 18th Century guide for Young Men to give them all the necessary guidance they will need to get on in life. After reading this volume, a young man of the day would have no trouble configuring his sundial.

This was a popular title with many slightly different imprints being produced in the late 18th Century, for a number of different booksellers.

A smart, very good copy, neatly rebound in grained brown morocco leather with blind embossed decorative border to covers, and raised bands to spine, with gilt title. minor scuffing. Soundly bound. Previous owner's name signed in ink to first free endpaper, dated to 1864 (and not a young man, but a lady). Some pencil inscriptions to endpapers.

Text is clean and clear, with some age discoloration and occasional usage marks. The first few pages a little frayed around the edges, but overall a rather nice copy.

Frontispiece + iv + 1pp Plate + 13-360pp. Although the numbering is slightly erratic, there does not seem to be any missing text pages.
