A good cloth hardback with burgundy covered boards and patterned dark green cloth spine with title label. Covers scuffed and bumped with colour fading. With worn areas to title label. Previous owner's signature (Robert Montgomery) in script to first pastedown.

With preliminary pictorial title with frontispiece engraving, with some staining and spotting. Text is bright and clean throughout with very occasional pencil annotation or light spotting.

First plate is age toned with some spotting. Second plate with 3cm edge tear. Some mild toning and spotting to other plates, but a nice copy of an uncommon volume.
