Privately printed and limited to 250 copies. 1895. Written and compiled by G. Gregory Smith. Printed by Neill and Company, Edinburgh.

A scarce copy of this sought after book. 

Original three quarters leather binding in dark green with gilt borders and green cloth. Some rubbing and wear to cover. Title has faded and stain mark to spine.

A very substantial volume weighing around 4.5kg, unpacked. xcii + 648pp + plates. Text and plates in very good condition throughout. Nice and clean. Some splitting at internal joints but soundly bound. Gilt to top of text block.

Provenance: Scottish country house estate sale. Bookplate to first pastedown and owner's inscription to first free endpaper. Bookplate is of J Talbot Clifton of Kidalton (Kidalton Castle on Islay - it was John Ramsay of Kidalton previously, who was the initial instigator of this work).
