A lovely book on the history of this beautiful Scottish castle with over 650 years of history. Best known for being the ancestral home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, host to Mary Queen of Scots and being an inspiration for Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Published by W. Shepherd, Forfar. 1938 first edition.

A very good brown cloth hardback with gilt title decoration to front cover. Some bumping to extremities and some scuffing and wear to cloth. Textured brown endpapers.

Text pages are very good - bright and clean throughout. With rough cut lower and vertical edge as issued. Printed on a very nice quality laid paper. Impressively illustrated, including the use of tipped in plates, some in colour.
