The 'Hammermen' were those working in the metalwork trade, including blacksmiths, goldsmiths, lorimers, cutlers, armourers, sword-makers, clockmakers, locksmiths, pewterers, and tinsmiths.

Published by Alexander Gardner, Paisley. 1912 first edition.

A very good navy blue linen cloth hardback with gilt to spine and blind embossed decals to covers. Some bumping to extremities and a few small scuffs and marks. Soundly bound. With poor dustjacket in removable protective plastic, with significant losses.

Text pages are very good - bright and clean throughout. Some offsetting to endpapers. Illustrated with plates in very good condition. Gilt top edge and some light age spotting to plain text block edges.
