Lives of the Queens of England, From the Norman Conquest, Abridged edition in full leather prize binding, Agnes Strickland, 1899
A handsome volume in full blue calf with blind embossed decals and gilt armorial to the front of this lovely prize binding from Oxford High School for Girls.
Lives of the Queens of England, From the Norman Conquest, Abridged edition. By Agnes Strickland.
Published by George Bell & Sons, London, 1899. An uncommon edition.
A very good hardback with dark blue leather with raised bands to the spine. The spine is a little sunned. Titles on darker panels. Some mild shelf wear, scuffing and some darker discolored spots to rear. The bright gilt edges to the text block remain shiny and bright. Soundly bound. Fathered marble endpapers. Prize label to first pastedown dated to 1901, and signed by the Head Mistress.
Text is in lovely bright, clean condition throughout, except for one spread where it seems a sheet of gold leaf has been left between the pages, leaving a gold leaf residue behind (see photograph). Otherwise, a very attractive volume.
Text in English.
