SOLD
Published for The Scottish Anthropological and Folklore Society by Oliver and Boyd, Edinburgh and London. First edition, 1940. Printed in Edinburgh. Presumably a subscriber's edition as there is a 2pp list of subscribers at the rear. Uncommon, especially with its dustjacket.
A very good dark blue cloth hardback with gilt titles. With light wear. Dustjacket is intact and not price clipped, but is faded and age toned, with stain to lower part of the jacket. With protective clear, removable plastic. Soundly bound.
There are a number of neat stickers used on the book and jacket covering up a printed 'Volume 1'. These are not just added by an owner, but are printer's stickers. It appears that the decision was made not to use the 'Volume I' classification prior to it being issued - maybe because this was called 'More' West Highland Tales, so perhaps not really a true first volume, or that there were no immediate plans to publish a second book - the subsequent volume was not actually published until 1960.
With some light spotting to endpapers and edge of text block. Text is bright and clean with giltv top edge and some rough cut edges, as issued.
Language: English and Gaelic.
xxxix + 540pp.
Dimensions: approximately 235mm high x 157mm wide x 42mm deep.
Unpacked weight approximately 1106g.
