Published by W. Sharpe & Son, W. Allason, C Chapple, W. Robinson & Sons, J. Mollinson, T.Fisher et al., London, 1819. Printed in Edinburgh by William Blair. An uncommon set. The eight volumes contain his twenty four 'books'.

A good to very good set of Rollin's influential history work. Full polished calf leather hardbacks with gilt borders and decals to spine. Covers with minor scuffing and bumping. Some wear to vertical hinges. Internally many of the endpaper joints are cracked, but are generally soundly bound. Volumes IV and VI have weak joints and cover binding is more fragile.  

The text blocks are very good - bright and clean, and the blocks are sound in themselves. Infrequent age spotting. Vol III has ink stain to front endpapers and is noticeable on the text block edges, but no real effect on the text pages. With previous owner's small bookplate to upper left corner of first pastedown - Nath. Hartland of Evesham. Occasional small tear or crease to fold-out map, but issues are minor in nature.
