The New Forestry, or the Continental System Adapted to British Woodlands and Game Preservation, John Simpson, 1903
A smart copy of this informative text on forestry practices (previously in the ownership of the Balfour family of Fife, well known for their contribution to forestry, conservation and land management), which has been professionally rebound in green cloth, and presents the book attractively.
The New Forestry, or the Continental System Adapted to British Woodlands and Game Preservation, Illustrated. By John Simpson, 1903.
Published by Pawson & Brailsford, Sheffield. 1903 Second edition (first published 1900). The book carries the date of 1807 to the spine, but this appears to be a binding error. An uncommon title.
A very good attractive hardback volume which has been bound in a later green cloth, with gilt title to spine. Binding is crisp and clean, and everything is soundly bound. The Book is bound with white card endpapers.
Text is very good throughout - bright and clear. Some dark toning to top edge of text block, visible in the topmost few millimeters of gutters throughout - the book was probably originally stored too close to a heat source such as as light bulb. Not affecting text. Some mild spotting to front endpapers. Overall, an attractive book of an uncommon first edition.
Text in English.
