Printed for Longman and Co.; Rivingtons; T. Hatchard et al, London 1856.

Each volume in full calf leather with raised bands and decoration to spine. A good set overall. Covers are shelf rubbed and worn, and spines more heavily so. The head of sine is generally a little ragged with some cracking to hinges and some with missing or damaged title labels.

With feathered marbling to endpapers. Many of the inner endpaper joints are split, but all books are still bound. Text is very good overall - nice and clean. This was a presentation set to a 'Thomas Hope' when he left Eton, as inscribed on the first free endpaper. Presented to him in 1864.

An imperfect, but still handsome set.

Dimensions:

Approximately 220mm high x 148mm wide x 30mm deep (each volume).

Weight approximately 6.5kg unpacked (the set).
