A very smart copy of this intriguing Scottish work, which has been professionally rebound in orange cloth, and presents the book beautifully.

The Proverbs of Scotland Collected and Arranged, with Notes, Explanatory and Illustrative and a Glossary. By Alexander Hislop.

Published by Porteus & Hislop, Glasgow. 1862 first edition.

A fine attractive hardback volume which has been bound in a later orange cloth, with gilt title to spine. Binding is crisp and clean, and everything is soundly bound. The Book is bound with white card endpapers.

Text is near fine throughout - bright and clear, with just a little age toning. Previous owners' name, G.J. Balfour, in pencil to half title. Overall, a very attractive book of an uncommon first edition.

Text in English.
