An attractive Victorian prize binding, presented by The College School, Huyton. The Half Hour Library of Travel, Nature and Science for Young Readers was one of the many popular late-Victorian educational compilations aimed at instilling curiosity in the natural world and scientific discovery. This 1886 volume, Half Hours in Air and Sky; Marvels of the Universe, gathers short, accessible essays on astronomy, natural science, and exploration, richly illustrated with engraved figures.

A very good hardback with tan calf leather spine and corners with gilt ruled borders. Spine with gilt tooled decoration, raised bands, and black morocco title label. Front cover with armorial cartouche within an oval surround representing The College School, Huyton. School bookplate to first pastedown and prize ink stamp with inscription to first blank endpaper, dated to 1890. Endpapers with feathered marble design with some wear to inner hinges.
The main body of the text is in very good condition - bright and clear throughout, with attractive engraved illustrations. Some spotting to blank endpapers.
