Published between 1892 and 1911, The Idler was an illustrated gentleman's magazine, published in Great Britain, and also distributed in America. The magazine featured many short works of fiction and some extended serialisations. There was also occasional verse, travel articles, features, Royalty, biography and general entertainment for the urban sophisticate of the day. Articles from many respected writers were included and the magazine featured high quality illustrations and photographs. The volume presented here features, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (The Case of Lady Sannox), Jerome K. Jerome, and Andrew Lang, amongst many others.

A very good hardback with leather spine and corners. Raised bands and gilt to the spine. Rubbed, bumped and scuffed, but all soundly bound. Some spotting to blank endpapers.

The text is clean and bright throughout with occasional spotting or thumb mark - mainly marginal. A wonderful insight into the publishing of late Victorian times.
