An unusual and attractive custom leather binding of this title from the ever-popular New Naturalist series. The spine featured 2 hand crafted, inlaid leather, bird motifs.

Published by Collins, London, 1973. 2nd impression of the first printing of 1971.

A near fine hardback with leather spine and corners. Raised bands with gilt decoration. Orange leather, with feathered marble paper over boards (the same design also used as endpapers). Spine faded to a tan colour. Minor rubbing. 

Text is in near fine condition - bright, clean and soundly bound. Coloured top edge. Well illustrated throughout. Minor marks to text block edge.

The binding provides an interesting take on the New Naturalist series.
