Nuova Raccolta di No. Cinquanta Vedute Principali Di Roma e Suoi Contorni, Disegnate Dal Vero, Ed Ingise Dai Migliori Artisti (New Collection of 50 Principal Views of Rome and its Surrounds, Drawn from Life and Engraved by the best Artists).

No publishing information stated, but there were a number of variations of this type of book printed in Italy in the mid 19th Century, including those printed by Tommaso Cuccioni of Rome, but we are uncertain about exact origin.

The plates are a mix of simple line drawings and more detailed images with more depth, light and shade. Such volumes are relatively uncommon as they are often broken apart for the plates.

The book is a fair to good hardback with brown cloth covers and brown leather corners and spine with gilt decoration. Substantial wear to the leather, including some losses. Cloth is worn, marked and discolored, with sun fade marks.

Endpapers are marked and worn with bookplate to first pastedown. Title page is pasted down to first free endpaper. This book may have originally been published as a softback book, with the borders then removed from the title page and pasted onto the first free endpaper, with the remaining plates bound into a hardback.

The first plate is rather soiled and foxed, and the last plate has some soiling and a crease mark. Otherwise the plates are nice and clean, with only occasional light spotting. One plate has a 4.5cm closed tear to its edge, not affecting image.

Text in Italian.
