Originally credited to 'M. Yorick', this novel by Laurence Stern was inspired by the author's own travels in 1765. The original publication was in 1768 and it proved very popular. This is beautifully illustrated edition from John Lane The Bodley Head.

A very good red cloth hardback with gilt titles. Just light bumping and wear, but spine is sun-faded. Offsetting to first and last free pictorial endpapers. No dustjacket. Soundly bound.

Text is bright and clean throughout. With rough cut vertical edge and red tinted top edge as issued. The layout and typography of this book are beautiful, and the plates are very elegant indeed.
