Published by John Murray, London, and Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1898-1901. First edition thus. A signed limited edition of 250 copies - this being number 130. The first volume is numbered and all are signed by John Murray. First edition thus. The limited edition of this set is very scarce and it is more readily available in a standard, unnumbered, cloth edition.
The poetry volumes are based on the John Murray publication of 1831, substantially revised and including many unpublished works.
Each volume has the previous owner's signature name and date on the pastedown (ranging from 1898 to 1904).
A very good, and scarce limited edition set. Each volume is bound with a navy blue leather spine with blue linen over boards. Gilt titles and decals. Covers have mild rubbing and occasional mark - two white spots to volume 1. The leather on the spines is sunned, resulting in the colour fading to brown in places.
All volumes are soundly bound with uncracked hinges and tight binding. The text block is gilt to top edge and the the other 2 edges are uncut as issued on a fine paper stock. text is lovely and clean throughout. Volumes have tissue guarded frontispiece portraits. Each with blue silk ribbon.
An attractive and scarce collection.
