The Life and Times of Selina Countess of Huntingdon, Vol. I. by 'A Member of the Houses of Shirley and Hastings' (attributed to Aaron Crossley Hobbart Seymour).

Published by William Edward Painter, London, 1839. Presumed first edition - does not include the print number bands in later issues. Introduction by J. K. Foster (Jacob Kirkham Foster).

Biography of Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon (1707-1791), English religious leader and important figure in the Methodist movement, and supporter of missionary work overseas.

A very good copy of this text. Hardback with leather corners and spine and marbled paper over boards. Scuffing and bumping, but soundly bound. Small bookseller's sticker to first pastedown. Marbled endpapers and 1.5cm worn circular area on the first pastedown (possibly sticker removal mark). One of the blank endpapers has been removed - possibly was an ex-library book and the library page removed?). Owner's inscription to free endpaper. Soundly bound. Text is very good throughout. Nice and clean. With frontispiece portrait with facsimile signature.

xxviii + 336pp, 357-488pp (there is a printer's mistake misnumbering the pages as present in other copies).

Dimensions: 221mm high x 141mm wide x 32mm deep.

Text in English.

Weight: approximately 718g (unpacked).
