A good hardback with brown cloth boards, with blind embossed decoration, gilt title roundel to front, raised bands, red and black morocco labels, with gilt titles. Covers are scuffed, rubbed and bumped.
With marbled endpapers with bookplate of 'Lt. Col. W.J. MacDougald' to first pastedown. Cracked to gutter after first blank free endpaper, but all remaining text block is soundly bound.
Text is bright and clean throughout, with illustrations and plates well-presented. Text pages with semi circular tabbed cut-outs. Mostly with printed black tabs with gold lettering. A few of the black tabs are now absent. With featherd marbling to edge of text block - now a little faded.
A substantial addition to a dictionary collector's library.
