Abbotsford; The Personal Relics and Antiquarian Treasures of Sir Walter Scott. Described by The Hon. Mary Monica Maxwell Scott of Abbotsford and Illustrated by William Gibb.

Published by Adam and Charles Black, London, 1893, first edition. Mary Monica Maxwell Scott (1852-1920), was Sir Walter Scott's great-granddaughter, and an author in her own right.

A very good blue cloth hardback with leather spine with raised bands and gilt titles. A few spots and markings to the right side of the front cover and some fine scratches to rear. Soundly bound with intact, clean endpapers. An attractive, later binding.

Text is very good. Some offsetting to blank page guards opposite colour plates, and a 9cm tear to first blank guard opposite frontispiece. Some age toning, but overall a nice and clean text block, on a quality paper stock, with attractive colour plates, providing a prestige feel for this publication.

Text in English.
