Richard Bickerton Pemell Lyons (1817-1887), served as British Ambassador to the United States, the Ottoman Empire, and France (as well as other diplomatic roles) under Queen Victoria's reign. He was dedicated to the Foreign Office and refused senior Government roles on several occasions. This is a two volume biography of his Diplomatic life.
