A smart copy of this work by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834), English poet, philosopher and theologian. This is one of his noted religious works. He was an influential figure in the development of the theology in the Anglican Church.

Aids to Reflection in the Formation of Manly Character, on the Several Grounds of Prudence, Morality, and Religion: Illustrated by Select Passages from our Elder Divines, Especially from Archbishop Leighton. By S.T. Coleridge.

Printed for Taylor and Hessey, London, 1825. First edition.

A very good hardback with leather spine and corners. The spine has raised bands, a burgundy morocco and gilt title label and tooled gilt decoration. Boards are covered with feathered marble paper. Covers a little bumped and worn with the marbled paper rubbed. Soundly bound.

Text is clean and bright throughout with occasional light scattered spotting. Some previous owner's annotations to the first paragraph of the introduction, and p. 403, and a few pencil line marks elsewhere. Missing lower corner of p.321 at margins, but overall an attractive copy of an uncommon first edition.

Text in English.
