An Artist in Corfu is the beautifully illustrated record of Sophie Atkinson's travels on the Greek island of Corfu, combining personal observations with the author's own accomplished colour paintings. Capturing the island's landscapes, architecture and everyday life in the years before the First World War, the book offers both an artist's sketchbook and a perceptive travel narrative. Lavishly illustrated with high quality colour plates and a folding map, this increasingly scarce first edition remains one of the most attractive early illustrated books devoted to Corfu (and is said to have influenced Lawrence Durrell's writing).
