Commemorative Catalogue of the Exhibition of French Art, 1200-1900, Royal Academy of Arts, London, January - March 1932.
Published by Oxford University Press, London, 1933. First edition.
A good blue cloth hardback with gilt titles to spine. Cover very slightly skewed. Some discoloration spots to cover - particularly on the spine. Dustjacket is good - intact, but with nicks and nibbles to top edge and tail of spine. Not price clipped. The tipped on Renoir image to the jacket is a little ragged at the edges.
Previous owner's signature in pencil to first free endpaper, dated to 1927. After a few introductory pages, the book consists of very good quality black and white illustrated plates of the paintings. Text is very good - bright and clean, with a few small corner creases at the front.
A few age spots to the first few blanks and half title. Otherwise, clean and bright throughout and soundly bound. Some spotting to edge of text block. The plates and the printed text are of very good quality. Was initially sold at 50s in 1933, which was a considerable sum.
Text in English.
