Published by John Murray, 1847. New edition. Spines feature the date 1834, as the contents are a newer 1847 edition of the 1934 printing.
A very good set of black chagrin hardbacks. raised bands and gilt titles. With attractive gilt edges to text block. Covers with light shelf wear, except for Volume 2 where the spine has considerable wear and a loss near the foot. Its rear cover also has heavier rubbing.
Text is firmly bound and is nice and bright throughout, with only minor flaws not detracting from the overall appearance significantly. The first few pages of Volume 1 have some discoloration, mainly at extremities. Similar to Volume 2 at the rear of the book. Some staining to Volume 3 to the top few centimetres on the first few pages. Occasional minor foxing to first and last few pages. Minor ink stain on the edge of text block on Volume 7. Overall, the text has the appearance of being unread, and overall a nice set to own.
Language: English.
Dimensions: each volume approximately 168mm high x118mm wide x 22mm deep.
Unpacked weight approximately 2.64kg for the set.
