A substantial and impressive publication with its 27 fine steel engravings.

A good hardback with black leather calf spine and corners with gilt. Boards rubbed and scuffed. Raised bands and gilt to spine with red morocco label. Inner joints are split, but all still bound. Marbled edges to text block, now age toned.

Text pages and plates are good throughout. Generally bright with scattered foxing. More pronounced foxing to endpapers and rear endpaper creased. There is one small gathering of about 12 pages which are only loosely attached to the text block towards the centre of the volume. Small tear to final endpaper top edge and discolored area to final endpapers.
