A beautiful book, as ever from The Chiswick Press. A very good copy. Three quarter leather with raised bands. Shelf wear and bumping to cover. Some discoloration and scuffing to boards. Spine is sun-faded. Marbled endpapers. Gilt edges all round. Binding is totally sound. Owner's name to first free endpaper and bookplate (attractive) and inscription to other endpapers at front. 3cm vertical tear to frontispiece page (not affecting contents. Text is very good. Occasional age spotting, but generally a really handsome book, with many tissue guarded plates throughout. With related letter included - signed by Andrew McIntosh Patrick, from the Fine Art Society Ltd. He was the son of James McIntosh Patrick, the renowned Scottish painter.
