Gorer & Blacker. Chinese Porcelain and Hard Stones. 1st edition. 1911

Edgar Gorer & J. F Blacker. Chinese Porcelain and Hard Stones. Illustrated by two hundred and Fifty-Four Pages of Gems of Chinese Ceramic and Glyptic Art and Described by Edgar Gorer & J.F. Blacker.

Superb double volume set in slipcases of one of the most sought after titles on Chinese art.

This is the best example of this set we have seen to date. The two volumes are in near fine condition. They have their original rose pink paper dustjackets. These have had some expert professional repair and have a very good appearance.

This was a limited edition set of 1,000 copies and this has been signed by hand as set number 124. Quarto, folio.

Published by Bernard Quaritch in 1911, this is a truly magnificent set.

More recently, both volumes have been housed in a vellum like outer folder in a natural ivory colour to provide extra protection. These have printed labels attached to the spine.

In addition, stiff outer slipcases have been made to house this set. These are unprinted in a vellum like material, with a yellowish green hue.

The books themselves are in ivory cloth over board with gilded lettering and Chinese motif.
